In 1968, John L. Hopkins, II, sat at a table in rural McGaheysville, in the
kitchen of his great-grandfather's house. He gazed out the window that frames a
spectacular view of the Massanutten Peak, and contemplated the woes of being a
farmer caught in the middle of a four-year-long drought.
Three years later, May 26, 1971, the development of 5,200 acres in
Massanutten, by a group of ten investors, was announced at a luncheon held at
Spotswood Country Club in Harrisonburg. Now, thirty years later,
Massanutten Village is a thriving four-season resort and community of over 600
single family homes, 900 timesharing units, and a multi-million dollar ski
business.
The Massanutten Property Owners Association, or MPOA, is the oganization that
represents the homeowners at Massanutten Village and provides common services to
the community including road maintenance, police security, and common grounds
maintenance. For further information on MPOA see the MPOA
area of this web site."
MPOA Rentals provides rental services for timeshare owners that choose
to rent their units rather than occupy them. For further information about
us select About Us at the top of the page.
The operation of the Massanutten timeshare resort and ski business is vested
in the company known as Great Eastern Resort Management Corporation. For further
information on Massanutten Resort amenities see the Massanutten Resort web
site.
In addition to the amenities provided by Great Eastern, MPOA also provides
amenities to the resort and owner community. These include tennis courts,
miniature golf, parks and fishing. For more information about these amenities,
see the further selections under Village Info at the top of the page.
